Squadron Leader Roger Bushell was a young London counsel, an auxiliary pilot and a winner skier when he was shot the floor and captured early in the strife. He escaped three times and in gall of the Gestapo's threat to propel him if he ever escaped another time, Bushell accepted the role of 'Big X' forward his return to the top-safety POW camp, Stalag Luft 111.
